Painters Wanted! It is our first research project, whose starting point is an open call. With this we seek to make a survey of the various practices and approaches to painting that come together in Bogotá.

This research is based on the question of the work and practice of painting in the city of Bogotá. A first approach to the problem, with a view to determining and characterizing the object of study, was made by this Collective previously, namely, an open call was made that was disseminated through networks and institutional channels with the slogan: Painters wanted! -or any person who identifies with this work- and who are based in Bogotá.  It is important to clarify that this call is open and does not require any professional training, previous experience or particular age. This in order to reach a more versatile public with more diverse and, therefore, enriching painting designations. This call seeks to generate a space that brings together and illustrates the way in which this medium is used, reflected on and modified in the contemporary scene in Bogotá. 

As a second instance of the investigation, this proposal proposes the development of a compendium of texts that theorize the results of the exhibition. These texts will be written by various media agents: Fernando Uhía, artist, teacher and writer; María Fernanda Zuluaga, artist and teacher; and the Second View Collective. These texts will be recorded in a printed publication. 

Thus, both the exhibition and the writing of the texts want to build a platform for collaboration and mutual support between art actors, where writers, artists and thinkers structure content on the way in which we understand and live Painting, its tradition and its relationship with the other and new media. 

As a third measure, this product will be distributed among the exhibition participants who in turn must distribute it in their nearby niches. 

However, our object of study are the inhabitants of the city of Bogotá who identify with the work of painting or with the title of painter.
